Worthington Wooded Beauty

The site came with mature woodland, which is a gift and a constraint. The brief was to add a lot of usable outdoor room without the garden announcing itself against the trees.

Cedar decks step down to a bluestone terrace, and a cedar structure was detailed to echo the architecture and materials of the house rather than contrast with them. Together they make one flowing outdoor living area that can be used in pieces or all at once.

Raised stone planters and a garden area give the family somewhere to grow food, and the open yard was left open, which the dog appreciates more than anyone. The project won a 2018 Ohio Landscape Award.
